Features in SCleaner for Windows

Everything listed here works in version 0.1.0.

Organize Files

Sorts loose files on your Desktop, Downloads and Documents into category folders. Every move is listed for your confirmation and can be undone.

The last 20 organizing runs can be undone.

Free Up Space

Finds temporary files, unfinished downloads, old logs and rebuildable caches from a fixed, documented list. Items are moved to the Trash or Recycle Bin, never deleted permanently.

When your whole user folder is allowed, also covers %TEMP%, browser page caches (never passwords, history or cookies), shader caches and crash dumps.

Clean Up Mail

Connects to your mailbox over IMAP, groups messages by category, sender, size and age, and helps you clear out newsletters and notifications in a few clicks.

Your mail password is encrypted with Windows DPAPI and stored only on your PC.

Duplicate Finder

Finds exact duplicates by comparing file contents, as well as numbered copies such as “Report (1).pdf”.

Not included in this version: Device Health, Performance Insights, Smart Recommendations, App Uninstaller, System Stats, Network Diagnostics, New File Alerts. Compare platforms.

How to install

  1. Download the installer for your PC: x64 for most PCs, ARM64 for Windows on ARM laptops. If unsure, check Settings › System › About › System type.
  2. Run the installer. The current version is not code-signed, so SmartScreen may show “Windows protected your PC”.
  3. If that happens, click More info, then Run anyway.
  4. Choose the installation folder and finish. Shortcuts are added to the desktop and Start menu.
  5. Open SCleaner and choose which folders it may use.

Using SCleaner safely

  • SCleaner only works inside the folders you allow. C:\Windows, Program Files, ProgramData and AppData are protected (AppData is entered only for a fixed list of caches).
  • Every change is listed in a confirmation dialog, and each item is re-checked right before it changes.
  • Removed files go to the Recycle Bin, never deleted permanently.
  • Organizing moves can be undone (the last 20 runs).
